There are so many things that could go wrong in your plumbing system. Your main pipes could leak, your fixtures could burst, or your sinks, toilets, and drains could clog. Sometimes, it’s not even about how much you spent on installing them; there are a lot of factors that could cause serious plumbing issues:
How to Handle Emergencies
The first thing you have to do when you notice a plumbing issue is to stop using it. If your toilets are clogged, avoid using it. The same goes true with sinks, drains, and waste disposals. Using it will only aggravate the problem. The last thing you want is wastewater and other waste flowing back into your house.
If your pipes are leaking, locate the valve of said fixture and shut it off. The valve is usually located just along the problematic pipes; if you can’t find it or if more than a single pipe is leaking, go for the main valve of your plumbing system and shut it off. The main pipe is usually located in the basement. If not, it should be close to your water heater tank or along the street.
